If you're asking, then you probably are. Phals like to barely dry out between waterings, but not quite. Mine are in clay and sphag (it worked when I had half the plants) and I can't keep up, so they dry out more than they want to. I know it's got to be setting the smaller seedlings back some.

While species can certainly break all rules, I like to fert my Phals fairly regularly (as opposed to my Paphs, where I'm much more conservative.)

Well...then I'm sure I AM underwatering this poor seedling. I just moved it to the kitchen window (and watered it). Thanks for the input on fertlizer too...I think I'm pretty conservative with everything that I have (most of which ISN'T paphs! well, not yet anyway....

Oncs are generally like Phals.

Paphs can be fert intolerant. Some will tolerate more than others. They don't want to dry out - even moisture, but not sopping is what you want.

Dends are all over the map, depending on what type you have. Generally, water and fert during the spring and summer, and little-no water and fert in the fall/winter, depending on the type.

I love the mannii. I don't have one yet...but I do have a little mannii var flavum x equestris alba seedling. (trying to be patient).

Thanks for the fert reminder too---I'm probably not fertilizing enough by those standards. But like you, I have my phals in sphag/clay and can hardly keep up!

Interesting and unusual bloom on the mannii. Great colors! I have the Arelia too. Beautiful phal.
