Your first assumption is correct. Kudos for doing the research before buying...I grow my Miltonias in baskets with sphag, and water almost every day in the summer...

Hello everyone
So I am interested in getting some easy plants like one of those intergeneric orchids with small flowers that everyone raves about: odontocidium, odontonia, vuylstekeara, miltonidium etc etc. I only grow plants outside most of the year under trees, and the summer temps are over 90F.
Now, from what I have been reading online, for heat tolerance I should only pick plants with Brazilian miltonias in the background like Miltonia spectabilis or Miltonia clowesii and completely avoid plants related to Colombian miltonias.
Is that correct? Or are they all equally doomed under the texas heat and I should scrap this idea?
