Blooms are starting

I have been so happy lately because I am getting so many spikes on my orchids. This is the first spring that I have had many of these and they are doing so good. This Brassia Rex I bought 5+ years ago in Florida and it hasen't bloomed until this spring. I divided it last summer and this spring I have two spikes on one and three on the other. I have six or seven other orchids spiking and when they bloom I will show them too.

That is so wonderful, congratulations!! There is nothing more fulfilling than getting spikes on your orchid plants and seeing them bloom, knowing that you helped them along the way!! How do you keep your orchids? Do you keep them in your house, or a greenhouse perhaps?

Hey, nice to hear from you Julie! Your Brassia is an inspiration--and so many spikes coming on! Was dividing it the only change? Mine bloomed late last fall, but I am still hoping it gets the urge this spring like it's "supposed to". I have a special love for brassia blossoms!

Thanks Becky, I am growing all my sunlovers in the bay window. This window faces south with no trees to bring shade. It's also a very deep window so it gets a lot of sun especially in the winter.

Nabakov5, the blooms are 6+ inches from tip to tip.

Lynda, I've been laid up this winter with two major surgeries 10 days apart and recovery. Dividing was an experiment because I wanted to try a hydro-log that I bought. Actually I just read how to treat it and gave it a lot of TLC. Guess it paid off!! I sure love how big the blooms got and the fragerance is something.

We figured something must be going on; glad to hear that you are doing better now. I hope you have someone to give you the kind of TLC that your brassia is responding to--you can both flourish in your own way!
