Wow, those roots look really happy and healthy!! I may have to take a crack at this S/H business, you've definitely inspired me! I think I will only use it on my phals & my 2 paphs, though...I can handle watering the little guys no problem.

Very nice indeed Gilda.
Your Phal,s look superb.
Some of my Phal,s have been in s/h for 3 years & are growing & flowering superbly.
Switching some over to Hydroton & the results so far look really good.
Cannot get a stake into some of the pots because the roots have filled the pots.
Wow, they are really looking fantastic.
I think someone had mentioned putting oncids into S/H...what do you guys think about that? Are they too fragile-rooted? I'm thinking of this for my mini twinkle oncid... thoughts?
mini twinkle is not goot for s/h, its roots tend to get rot even in bigger size pot, I heard quite a few people said that.

Your orchids look fantastic, I hope mine thrive like yours because I've switched to s/h last month and I was wondering...how long did it take to get them accustomed to the new medium? I've seen some reaction at first but now some old roots look brownish, although the plants look better (shinier leaves, more upright crowns).
What a display! Fantastic! Judi
Those look great, Gilda! BTW, nice to see you!
Cheers,
BD
I have lots of oncids in S/H and they are pretty happy. My Twinkle is still in regular media because it's doing well and I hate to mess with success.
Keep in mind that I am an underwater who lives in an arid climate. I tend to let the reservoir go dry more often than one is supposed to. So it's not like they are moist 24/7.
