Hi everyone! Well, I dragged Mr E to Chelsea Flower Show (the main flower show in UK) on Thursday. We had a great day despite the hot weather and spent a good 5 hours there making sure we didn't miss anything.
We both took LOTS of pictures so I'm going to post some orchids to start with and if you guys are still not sick of looking at them then I can post some other wierd and wonderful things that were there too - form irises to carnivorous plants, strawberries and some of the gardens.
There were a few orchid exhibits there but one from Eric Young Orchid Foundation was pretty much the highlight of the show for me. We got chatting to one of their men and it turns out they only come to Chelsea every 4 years or so, so we were lucky to catch them there.
Anyway, here are some of the orchids they were showing. I managed to note down most of the names so you should be able to see them if you view the properties for each image. Enjoy! They might take a while to upload so feel free to go and sort yourself with a drink in the meantime
HUGE Max tenuifolia. Mr E loved it so he now wants to buy one too

What a beautiful, beautiful show that is! Must have been breathtaking in person. Everything is displayed so naturally; especially the slippers. I'm so glad you got to see it and shared your pictures with us!
Thanks for sharing these, we didn't see anything like this on the tv coverage! Judi
Wow I am overloaded with pictures! Thanks for the photos the displays look spectacular.
I think I recognize this plant from the EYOF (but I might be wrong...). Olaf Gruss used an older photo of that plant as an example of Phrag dalessandroi in forum discussions, but the photo he used was very old from back when it was once labelled as Phrag besseae. Perhaps this plant was used in some of the first EYOF besseae hybrids, I searched that EYOF re-registered their crosses again when dalessandroi was named, so basically they named and registered some of the same hybrids twice because of the taxonomic change of one of these plants
Nevermind I'm not sure if it is the same plant because I can't find the photo that Olaf used. I don't think the petals were as full. Maybe the one above isn't even a dalessandroi?
Thanks everyone!
Fren, pretty sure that's Phrag Jersey
I agree with you, I looked at the blooms some more and it looked like the Phrag Jersey example that Olaf gave me, another old looking photo
Gorgeous pictures of gorgeous orchids!!!
What a wonderful show! Thanks for posting the pictures, Elena!
Must take you a long time since there were so many picies!!!
Cheers. Hoa.
