Default Orchid Growing in orchid cases

About two years back I received a commercial orchid growing case gratis from someone that no longer was growing orchids. I have had very good results using this case and deciced to save up and I bougnt another one with more lights. They both work very well and I can't say that I really see better results with more light. The cases do get warm in the summer (mid 80's) but the plants do just fine. Are any of you growing using homemade or commercial cases? Ed

I've never tried, Ed, but from what I've read, plants like Masdies and others that like high humidity do really well in them. What kinds of plants are you putting in there?

Default orchid growing in orchid cases

Hi, In one case (with two biaxial fluorescent bulbs) I grow mini catts, tolumnias(mounted), small growing paphs, small ferns, mini begoinias, small gesneraids and two mini hoyas. The shelves are adjustable and a plastic screen is hung from the side with room for mounted orchids. Low light growing plants are near the bottom. A fan is mounted near the top and the humidity, and temperature are adjusted by clear sliding doors and sliding vents. The other unit with three biaxial fluorescent bulbs (same model) contain more mini catts, Bc., encyclias, ascf., various mounted orchids, ferns and phals. The units do not have any mounting screws and are put together without tools. They are easy to assemble and clean. The models that I have are made by Orchidarium. My models are called the Bimini. The company makes several different modlels. They really look good and work very well. Plants do not have to be taken out to be watered. Being disabled, they are quite nice to have.Very little work is involved using them. The only drawback is that the are expensive. Good growing, Ed

Well, the only ones I *might* hesitate about would be the mini-catts, but if they're doing well for you...

Yes they are doing well. Why would you think that they might not do well? Ed
