Hmmm... for me looks like some species of Neomarica, a genus related with Iris. Curiously, here in PR Neomarica plants are commonly called in Spanish as 'Lirio Orquidea' (Orchid Lily).

Anyways... I can be wrong. Good luck with your quest!

    Cheers,
    Jorge Joel...

It's quite pretty...I don't think it is an orchid either. It doesn't have the bilateral symmetry that an orchid has. The first thing that came to mind was something like an iris...

I definately agree that they are part of the Iris family. They remind of the Tigiridia pavonia (Mexican shellflower) that grew in my garden except the color is off.

They are beautiful, but I think I have to go with everyone else & call it an iris. Lucky you to have them pop up uninvited We should all be so lucky

    Default Hmmmm

I don't think its scabiosa...bloom is kind of odd for it. I agree, its probably in the Iris family...off all the non-orchid lilies...Irises are my favourite. I agree, it is probably in the Neomaricas. But, whatever they are, they're awesome! Thanks for sharing...I think I've found something else to attempt a container garden with (my irises are doing well on my poarch at the moment).
