    Unhappy Droopy leaves

Last week I put my phal outside to take advantage of a wonderful, breezy day. When I brought it back inside, the leaves were droopy (sort of hanging down instead of somewhat standing firm before going out). Is there anything wrong with it? (Sorry if this sounds silly, but I'm a first timer).

There are several posibilities here: the first being that there was not enough humidity and the plant was not able to take enough water up through the roots.
The plant may have been in light that was tooooooo strong for it and the leaves are now damaged.
The brezze was tooooo strong and damaged the leaves (look for cracks in it)

Did you put it out in the sun? That could cause a lot of damage to a phal's leaves. If your plant got too much sun the leaves will probably start to show bubbly scorched places. This kind of damage is permanent and you just have to baby it and let it grow new leaves.

Assuming that you put it out in a protected place with shade, maybe it just got dried out from all the sudden breezes. If this is the case, give it a thorough watering and draining and see if it plumps back up.

Thanks for the response...I did not put in direct sunlight and the breeze wasn't strong. The leaves show no signs of damage, they're just not as perky as they were before I put them out.

Loss of humidity is them most likely culprit. It happens. If you don't see any bugs, then don't worry unless it continues to get worse. Orchids are like every living thing, they change through time.

I have to agree, loss of moisture. Sometiems it isn't very humid outside and the breeze really helps it lose more moisture.

I would think that the plant would close it's stomata though...hmmm I think with time the leaves may perk up soon, or it will grow new ones eventually

That also happened to my phal when I got it out from house in a greenhouse... I have left it for a few days in a greenhouse, but it was oly worse and worse, so I returned it in a house on old place... Few days sfter, leaves became firm as before!
