The Neoregelia spectabilis is a bromeliad that Gin gave me too! I confirm the identification.

    # 10 is an Aptenia cordifolia, also known as a Baby Sun Rose. I've posted pics a few times on here of mine; its a favorite of ours!! It comes in Red, Yellow, White and Orange, and is a full sun, arid plant- I found mine in Ibiza Spain where it was growing in the sand. It performs best when spent blooms are deadheaded, and if given true full sun, will produce nickle-sized flowers in great quantity.

Hey, that's the one! We have them readily available here in Florida nurseries, but never got one. They are really neat looking things... looking at some pics, I guess they're suitable ground cover?

Oh yeah- in full sun, they grow 1/2 an inch a day, its pretty amazing! The flowers are really cute too. If I lived somewhere where I could have them as groundcover, I would absolutely use them. People are always fascinated by them too, and want cuttings :-) You could even keep pieces of the plant in a cup of water; they grow roots eventually and flower great in the water (I think it stresses them a bit).
