    Default My prize orchid!

I got my prize orchid in the mail a few days ago - its settling in well (not the DIY basket - although it's not hanging, it's on a shelf).

It's a beautiful cattleya, and should some day look like this:

Many thanks to Bruce and the forum, the plant donor for their generosity, and everyone here for making this a wonderful place to talk about orchids. I'm sure I'll be here asking many more questions as my orchids develop!

Thanks so much - my orchid collection has grown from 0 to 6 in a few months, and it's a big part due to this forum.

    Zoe

P.S. - has anyone made any baskets?

    Hi Zoe,

That should be a fun one to raise! What cool flowers to look forward to. Thanks again to Katie!

I'll probably never make my own baskets, but I sure think it's neat that you do!

Katie has donated plants before, but this gift was actually from another donor who wished to remain anonymous.

Oops. Well with so many generous people around here, who can keep it straight? Thanks to whoever for helping to make this a nice place to hang out!

Sure looks like it'll grow into a beauty. What was it again?

Your basket really does dress up the plant. It looks great! I usually find catt foliage to be unattractive, but it looks good in that basket.
