Because on this cym one last old bulb have started srying, today, I will repot it in a smaller pot and I will use pure bark as mix!

I have repoted it a minute ago. Old mix have decomposed and 90% of roots were dead and roted. I have removed 5 old bulbs and potted it in a much smaller pot and in a mix of palm bark( similar to coconut husks, it holds water good) and pine bark and bark of Quercus suber. It is in totally epiphytic mix without land and we'll se how will it react!

That cymbidium have died!


I bought some new orchids a week ago. Here are the pics of Paphiopedilum, and Dendrobium nobile.

Third pic shows my improvisation of a small greenhouse for keikies. That is a fishbowl. On the bottom I have puted a hydrotone, and a few peaces of charcoal. On the top I placed a moss in which I placed Dendrobium keikies, Cattleya with 2 bulbs but no roots, Paph without roots and other orchids that need more roots. I will be glad to hear your comments on this thing...

And one more question...Is it possible to make small rootless Vanda creates roots and continue growing? This plant is firm and shows no signs of drying for more than 2 weeks...

You might try a new post to ask the question about the Vanda...you'll get more answers from the vanda people.

Can you please tell me which orchid is this? I got those divisions from one woman and she doesn't know what sort of orchid is this. Do you know?

What do you think, will they survive? They both have pseudobulbs and new shots but all roots are dead...

It's hard to tell, Aleksa..but it looks like a Zygopetalum family alliance plant.

I suspect on Coelogyne...

I think you may be right Aleksa, looks like a Coelogyne. Suppose to be quite easy to grow, although I killed mine... good luck with it and hope it flowers soon!
