ID Help on a Phrag

I have been working on cataloging our plants and that means going to each pot and looking at the tag and typing it into the computer. Well, in the process I came across this huge phrag. It was not in bloom at the time, but now it has two spikes and one has two blooms on it already. I figure it is a sorcerer's apprentice crossed with ??? (But that could be totally wrong) As it is, it is a NOID. Anyone who grows phrags have any idea? The red on the bloom is very striking in any case.

Bruce It reminds me a bit of this one. This is sargentianum x pearcei. Your petals are longer. I would guess the coloration of both of ours come from sargentianum. I would guess that yours might be Phrag. Red Lightning (Phrag. sargentianum x Phrag. popowii). There is a possibility that it is a sorcerer's apprentice ( sargentianum x longifolium) cross.

Yes, I see the similarities. I kinda figure it is one that I have another of, but this is the only one like it in bloom right now. Usually the same crosses bloom together. I hope someone can make a positive identification. Thanks for the help!

Found it about half way through the first page of results on sale for $150.00. A dead ringer! Thanks Ron!

Phrag. Red Lighting (Phrag. sargentianum x Phrag. popowii)

I did not have the named version on the tag because I would have remembered 'Red Lighting', but the popowii cross sounds correct. I will look and see if I have another one and be sure to watch it for a bloom.

Nice find - so how long do you reckon it's going to take to go through the whole greenhouse? I think it must be nice to just pop into your greehouse and find something blooming that you'd forgotten about.

I do that with my garden - it's not that big, but I am just not that great a gardener. My newest find was a courgette flower. And no I don't grow vegetables, but it looks like my compost heap was not fully composted before I started spreading it around.

It's a lovely phrag anyway, I do like those long sepals.

It is taking forever! Lol. I have lots of patience, but as I am going along, I start cleaning this one, or repot that one, and before you know it, I have only actually typed in a few plants and have been in the GH for hours. Of course, I am complicating things. I am not just typing a list, I am creating an html catalog and website so that I can have the name of the plant, a photo of the plant, how many of each plant we own and what size. Along with the search feature so that when I want to find one, I can just search my site and find it instantly. (Crazy, I know. I am a bit of a computer nerd along with being an orchid addict.)

LOL. Well, during the summer, I am around the house and the computer is usually on. When fall rolls around, I will be at work most of the day, so i become a bit harder to reach.
