    Default A Fish Story...

Diane sent this to me and wanted to share it here on the forum. I just uploaded the photos and pasted it below. I hope you enjoy it. (And no, Gin, that is not one of my catfish!)

A guy who lives at Lake Conroe (50 miles north of Houston) saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in the lake and went to investigate. It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a basketball which became stuck in its mouth!!

The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface. The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

You probably wouldn't have believed this,if you hadn't seen the following pictures...

Be kinder than necessary. 'Cause everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
    Cheers,
    BD

He's right--you'd never believe it if you didn't see the pictures for yourself! That poor creature. Bet it won't try to swallow anything remotely like that again!

But I also am impressed by the guy who intervened in the fish's predicament instead of getting himself a catfish dinner.

that's hilarious! even more so since you figure flatheads are usually bottom feeders, must have been hungry to come up for that pink ball!

Yup, yup. Bit off more than he could chew. Happens to a lot of us! Fortunately for the fish a kind sole (heh, heh, play on words there) intervened. We need more kindness like that in dis ol world.

Flatheads in TN are not bottom feeders but prey upon live bluegill hiding in rocks . People fish for these at night with with a method called "limb line" in which they take a live Bluegill(bream) and hook it through the top of the back so it can swim freely...that is attched to a limb of a tree on the bank or hanging over the water..flatheads come along and hook themselves while eating the bluegill.
That one must have been really hungary, but the ball was probably moving and it thought it was alive ??

That was a very kind thing to take that basketball out of the catfishs' mouth. Too bad we don't have many more people who are willing to do kind deeds such as this...Betty :-)...
