You go to buy an orchid to give as a gift but buy at least one extra so that you are still willing to give the orchid away when you get home.

when your relatives who come to your house take one look at your balcony and start offering you their non-blooming orchids...
when you browse the internet everyday looking for orchid information...
when you go to the garden center/orchid farm to relax when you are feeling stressed
when your family members who are not interested in orchids start talking to you about your orchids and asking you how they are doing :X

BTW I got a mystery dendrobium with NINE canes for $20. I have no idea what it might be as there was no tag. I passed over it twice but it kept calling me back!
