Does BLC. Alma Kee flower from dry sheaths??

I haven't bloomed this plant yet, I bought last year in bloom but don't remember if the sheath was dry or fresh at the time..

As you can see from the pic there is definetly something inside the drying sheath, but is it a developing bud??

Looks like a bud to me, but then I'm still kinda new....good luck there.

It looks like a bud ,or one that has started and quit, dried up . I would split the sheath , cut the top off and peel open , if you do that be careful of water getting in it .
Some will bloom thru a dry sheath but don't know about that one . Hope this helps a little . Gin

I'd go with Gin's advice. You want to know what's going on inside and see if it is mushy.

Just from experience...

This looks like the result I get on some of my catts right before the next blooming p-bulb is produced. I think they call it a "blind sheath" or something like that.

Describe this blind sheath thing....do they just sit there forever doing nothing? I've got a plant that has been in sheath for like months now...

well I put a mark on the sheath where the shadow was yesterday and now I can see that it has actually grown a couple of millimeters! I gues it's a bud then?

growth means something good. often I can't remember which ones bloom on green/dry sheaths and end up cutting off the tip of the dry sheaths to let the inside aerate a little.

Connie, blind sheath means it makes a flower sheath but does not make a bud in it .

Well I got to impatient.. So I cut away the sheath, and found this - I guess that is a bud? - or might it be two?
