    Default Burrageara question

Hope someone can give me some insight on these orchids. I have several Burr. Kilauea 'Hawaii' orchids and they are not doing well at all. I call them my "failure to thrive" orchids. They are potted in orchid bark and perlite and are in an east window. I feed them weakly, weakly, but still they just sit there not putting on much growth. There are also a lot of brown spots on the leaves. Is this normal like with oncidiums? There are no signs of any insect damage. I'm embarrased to even post these pics, but here goes anyway.

The tiny brown spots are normal. It looks like you got a bit of sun damage also, but the new growth looks healthy. The oncidium type orchids need good, bright, filtered light. They also do not want to stay wet. Let them dry out and give them plenty of air movement to avoid pests, etc. You should see blooms from the new growth when it matures.

    cheers,

Yes, your plant is OK like BD says. These orchids are very easy to sun burn as I have quickly come to realize. I put my new Burr in the windowsill with all my other 'chids and toasted the leaves on the back side of the plant. Have since put it further away from the window. It hasn't hurt the flowers, but quick action was taken. Here are some pics of mine.
