Sick Pseudobulb?

I got a pseudobulb orchid back in early summer while it was flowering... it had about 8 bulbs, most of them "spent" or flowering. I replanted it after it was done flowering. Over the past few weeks, it has been losing a lot of its leaves. Only two leaved bulbs remain.
I water and fertilize it, and it gets afternoon sun.

What else can I be doing to help it?

After you replanted it you shouldn't water it too much because it may cause to root to rot, second only give orchid early morning sun or late in the afternoon when the sun not so intense. The leave drop maybe cause by the intense sun you gave it. BTW don't fertilize it too much either.

The PM sun is not strong at all... we face North-Northwest so the room is bright throughout the day but never any direct sun. Could that be hurting it?

Zoe can you take a picture and post it so we can be sure about what kind it is ? I am guessing a Catt. but can't be sure . Gin

I know the feeling of not being able to get an orchid to flower. I have one oncidium that I overwatered and rotted the pseudobulbs. I was able to save one and now it is alone in the pot, looking forlorn indeed. I am watching this baby very carefully and have it in my garden room where it is very warm. Guess the main rule of thumb for growing any orchid is: Do not pamper it with too much water.

Here is a pic of it when it was flowering. If I cut back on watering, how do I know when I should water?

You could try weighing it, if the weight keeps dropping, it is still losing water. If it doesn't change much, time to water.

You probably need to check out the roots of that pseudobulb and see how they are doing.

And I have to killed an onc and now have a replacement that I almost killed. Mine is on its way to recovering now though (see thread "Good news, but help!") and they do hang on a long time - mine had 0 roots. But mine had the advantage of having 3 older pseudobulbs to help start new growth. You should look for a new bulb starting - if nothing starts, you'll lose that plant sooner or later.

Oh, and while it is recovering, go easy on the light, no direct light until it is back on its feet again.
