Keiki with very long roots

I recently purchased a Dendrobium Nobile and when it arrived it had a keiki on it with very long roots (approx. 5 to 6 inches long). I have read that keikis should be removed and potted when the roots are less than an inch long. What should I do with this keiki. thanks!

Depend where the keikis is. If it at the bottom don't need to repot. If it at the top the cut it and repot. Don't need to go by every rule that set by the unknown. Do what ever you like and experiment it more fun and excite to find out by yourself ^.* Here is a couple picture for example. Hope it help

Thanks Bluemoon. The keiki is near the top of the plant, so I guess I'll remove it. Do I place all of the roots beneath the surface of the potting medium?

I would recommend putting all the roots under the medium.
Also, as far as removing the keiki before the roots are an inch long--I've read that it's best to wait until they're at least 2 inches long. I guess everyone has a different opinion based on what's worked for them. Anyway, I think your keiki should be fine to pot now. Sounds like it's got a healthy root system already.

Sure, wait till the roots are long enough to anchor the plant.
