I bought a Potinara Luna Juane 'Celebration' at a local auction back in September '07. On two of the leaves it had a black thing where the flower used to be. Since then I joined my local society and brought the plant in question in to them, but nobody seemed to be to worried about it, but then they never gave me any explanation as to what I was seeing. So, since the plant seemed otherwise to be in good health, I never cut them off. So I thought maybe yall could help. Also, a few weeks ago, one leaf turned yellow and fell off, but like I said, the plant looks pretty healthy to me. Are these black shoots what the flower looks like after it dies? I've never seen this bloom, so I don't really know what to expect, except that I think it will be a yellow flower. The two small shoots you can see growing in the bottom picture are encouraging, I think. Are those "leads?" Anyway, thanks for the help

Just my guess. The pbulbs are plump - plenty of water there. Let the black leaves or sheaths fall - watch for rot. That's nice new growth coming there - maybe those lead will bloom for you! Looks like a nice plant.

That looks normal to me. I would guess it is a dried up flower sheath. (especially on the one in the center of the leaf.) When it is dry enough to remove by hand, just twist it off and clean it up. You have a healthy plant there!
