    Default A question of light.(Lights)

I'm really new at this, I have bought a couple "dime store" Orchids in the past and they have re bloomed at least once.

In another forum I read a discussion about using 85cfls. Are these the same Cfls I can buy in 4 packs at my local big box?

Is there any advantage to using these over the good old school tubes?

In yet another forum, I have been viewing pictures of other peoples growing areas and that has opened a new can of worms for me. But I'll save that for another post.

This is my present rack using full spectrum tubes in front of an east window. I'm contemplating rearranging the room so I could move this rack to the opposite wall with west windows. I'm curious if the west natural light would be better.
Along my south facing windows in this room are larger and in bloom plants.

Interesting way you have the lights arranged. I have the same racks and 2 of them are in a south window with Dens and catts and supplemental lighting on the lower shelves. One other rack is in a west window with supplemental lighting on the lower racks for a couple of baby catts. The upper shelves I keep my low light paphs and phals. I also have a very large rack in a north window with supplemental lighting for catts. As far as the type of lights I use plant lights in shop light fixtures on auto timers, on for 14hrs a day.

I guess thats the way the light seemed to work best. I'm already looking at T5 fixtures.lol
I do have a 2nd one of these stands I'm putting together this afternoon. I think I will put these lights on the 2nd shelf and add the t5's across both racks.
