    Default Paph buds

I have something growing out of the center of my paph plant. It looks like there are little hairs on it. I don't remember the leaves looking like that when they came up. Any possibility it is a bud?

What kind is it Traci? Sounds promising to me, several of mine have had fairly hairy spikes.

Oh ok, in your pic that you posted, it looks as though there is either a previously bloomed cut off spike, or something is coming up in the larger growth that looks like a spike. I can't tell. Is that what you are seeing, or is it in the smaller growth? At any rate, sounds like you'll have a bloom soon. My maudiae when it sends up leaves they are *obviously* leaves.

Default It sure sounds like it!!

    Traci,

My 2 Paphs (mottled leaf Maudiae type hybrids)are putting out buds right now and both looked like what you are describing when they started. I noticed something that looked like a small triangular leaf coming out point first, and they had little hairs on the perimeter. They have both turned into buds!!
Be on the lookout for new growths coming up near the base of the first leaf, if they haven't already. Good Growing!

Oooh! I have a question! How long does it take for the bud to show? I have a Dellaina that did the exact same thing you all are talking about -- a small hairy triangular leaf came out, but then nothing else happened. It's been almost 2 months. Any idea what may have happened? Is there still a chance the bud may grow? Thanks!

It is a two growth plant. The other one did have a stalk cutting, this is totally new. When I got it, the new leaf was still growing in.
