My rootless wonder

This must be the week for dens to be stubborn $%^&.

This is my burana stripe that had almost no roots. I *should* take these roots off too, but I need something. I have taken it out of the pot, put it on top of some sphag, and much to my surprise, two roots are trying to poke their way through. I told it is I didn't see a root in a week, it was going to the can. It just goes to show that a little orchid blackmail CAN make a difference.

Traci, that one still definitely has some kick left--those roots aren't all bad. Bet in another couple seasons it'll come back strong and healthy as ever.

It is trying very hard to push out some roots. When it doesn, do you think I should cut off the old canes that are totally shriveling up or just leave them on?

hahaha! My DH laughs at me because a plant can be my favorite one day, and the next, if it disappoints me, it's fallen from grace. After dumping a plant a while back, I stood on the patio and told all my plants, "Pay attention, because if you're not careful, you, too, can fall out of favor and end up in the trash!" Nothing's been dumped since then. I guess a little pressure can be good...

It is still being a stubborn sob, but it did sprout a bunch of roots. The old canes though, are still losing their leaves. I cannot say I blames them. I'd be a little ticked if I didn't have any roots either!
