    Default Air Plant

I don't know it's name and I didn't even know that it had a flower but this kid growing on my date palm sure looks like it is going to bloom to me.
    Enjoy, Cin

Oh yes, it is going to bloom, but they take for what seems like forever! LOL! Be sure to update us as it grows and finally flowers! Gin might actually know the name of this one.

    Cheers,

I have been living in S. Florida for a long time; and have seen all kinds of wild air plants; but I've never seen one like that. Thats amazing, it almost looks like a succulent.

Look for the varieties of Tillandsia. They are all over Florida, esp. the farther south you go. Hope I spelled it right.

Your spelling was "spot on", Connie! Looks like it might be Tillandsia bulbosa. Enjoy the colorful bract/spike as it develops. The actual flowers will be very short-lived.

Yes they are, both were here and gone before I got a shot but they were bright purple and quite unimpressive. Thanks for the name.
