    Default Think it'll make it?

My Dens came, Yay! 5 in all. From top left D. Bobby Messina x Jiad Gold, D. Burana Green x Compactum, middle~ D. ThongChai Gold x Minnie and the two little ones are D. Ammerron. The Burana Green came a little beaten from the travel though. I think that the cold got to it, but I hope it will pull through. All of the others are wonderful, but this one is yellowed and appears to have fungus. I think that it contracted it from the condensation of the packing and shipping, even though the rest are fine. I already treated with anti-fungal remedy and prayed to the orchid gods. Question is if it loses all of the leaves now, will it die? It's in spike and I'd hate to lose it. It's not the company's fault for this I don't think. Just weather.

If it's in spike as you say, I would definitely cut the spike. The reason being the plant is under a lot of stress right now and needs all its strength to recuperate.

And keep it away from the other plants so the disease or rot cant spread.

On of my dens in the greenhouse is experiencing the exact same thing. It was doing well in the GH for a few months. I will have to check the tag to find out which one it is specifically.
My guess is that it does not like the cold weather at all.

Other dens in my GH are doing ok, although somewhat dormant. A couple are actually spiking, so I hope it is only isolated to this one plant.

The really nice things with dendrobiums, as long as the canes stay green you can grow a keikei and start with new canes. Alot of growers cut the ugly old canes off. Even with my cattleyas, I leave the old canes on until they wither to nothing because they act like spare batteries for the plant; enabling it to store extra food and water for the lean times. In fact, I bought two very yellowed, awful lloking things a few weeks ago and already they are looking much better. I recognize the names of your plants and know the seller well. If the plant doesn't make it he'll do a replacement if you send that one back due to the mold. Many of my best plants came from him.

Ditto to wetfeets post they hate cold, along with wet a double whammy , the leaves get bad looking when dying off , As long as the canes are firm and the roots ok it will probably lose the leaves and later on start a new cane from the base of the old . If the canes start to get soft then that says rot has taken over . I agree with removing the spike (sorry) If they are from who I think they are from initials O.M or B. A ... send it back . Gin
