I searched the old treads related to superthrive and many are old. I am interested in what current users of this forum think about this product....pros/cons, persoanl experiences, like, "I used and now my spikes are so tall Jack could get that golden egg.", whether you personally use it or have an opinion regarding the addtion of fortifcation agents to promote better anything with orchids.

I find that it helps my vanda types and other plants to develop new roots. I don't think it makes a huge deal of difference when it comes to blooms though. Definitely more of a tonic than a miracle potion.
I use it mixed in with my fertilizer. I do seem to see stronger plants with it, but you have to be careful not to burn with it.
ST is a good product but you have to use it with care.
It should be used in addition to fertilizer, and in a very small quantity, when the plant is adult.
For young plants, the effects of ST on their growth is much visible, and less risky for the plant.
Excessive consumption of this product (amino acids) may cause, depending on the species, defects on the buds and encourage the emergence of bacterial attacks.
So it's like any products, it should be used with care ..
It's great for the plants repotted from regular potting mix to s/h. Personally I use it very frequently (say every second/third watering) and the results in the summer are focused on root growth and less shock for the plant.
During the winter, I'd say that maybe it helps your plants make it through the not-so-good-for-orchids growing conditions healthier. (ie less humidity or less light for those that grow indoors).
However I use it with caution when it comes to quantity. I fill a 10lt bowl and add 1/2 tsp fert and 1-2 drops of superthrive, and then dunk the pots inside.
beware of ST overdose. a long time ago a stupid orchid grower mixed in 1/4 tsp/gal ST with every other watering for a few months...managed to bloom a couple paphs that came out horribly crippled. that idiot was me and now I only use a few drops per gallon maybe once a month, although I will use a higher dose for transplantation.
Well, Jason, I, too, thought just alittle more might be better until I read all the posts and realized how brain-dead I was. The label even tells you to use the product in VERY small quantities, and of course, I know how to use stuff and why read any label.... I only did this once and will never do it again. I will use the product for those plants that are looking not so good. After reading the label, I realized that the major components are vitamin B-1 (Thiamine) and Rootone. Not sure how a vitamin will help a green plant but then what do I know! Anyway, thanks to all for the heads-up.
I use it once a month, I mix a 1/4 tsp in with the first fertilizing of every month
