Default Weird Bud Growth

Hello Everyone,

So, my Phal Solid Gold has decided to keep blooming. I know, yay! Anyway, there is a weird growth on one of the buds. It almost looks like a little bug OR mini flower?

It looks very weird. It's the 2nd to last bud. All others are OK (meaning, they actually LOOK like buds). Here are a few pics. Anyone have any clue as to what this may be? Is this a keiki? bug? alien hibernating in my plant???? What is it?

Hmmm. Hard to say for sure. Sometimes you can get really weird deformed flowers, usually on hybrids. I haven't really noticed that so much on species Phals. Maybe it's trying to keiki and bloom at the same time. I have a Phal equestris trying to do that right now. I have had other equestris do this too-they are such crazy keiki factories . Anyway, time will tell.

Susan

keep us posted, I'm interested to know whether it's a keiki or a mis-formed bud.

I suspect a mis-formed bud, but lets hope for a keiki! Wouldn't that be cool!?!

Cheers,
BD

Definitely an alien! My guess would be that the plant got confused and is trying to do a couple of things at the same time and in the same place. Please post a pic when the process is finished.
