    Default Dendrobium aberrans X alexandrae

I don't know if this cross has a registered name but it also has the nice spotting of Lutin Blanc. The flowers are beginning to fade so they are little creamier in color. When new they are white with purple spots and lines.

These will last for weeks more. I just recently got it in bloom so I don't want to take credit for the blossoms. I just happened to think about it in regard to the discussion on Lutin Blanc.

Sorry it took a bit to get back to you on this. This is the whole plant. The flowers are small but Latourias in general are floriferous, with the blooms lasting for months and they can rebloom many times from the same growth. So that makes up for the small size but some of the hybrids have large flowers.

They do not need a winter rest only a slight lessening of fertilizer or water in the winter if not growing. From what I understand they should never dry out yet they want a lot of air around the roots. Most grow from cool to hot and medium light. I decided they would be a good candidate for my bare root growing in glass. I keep the root mass sitting on a lava rock with water in the bottom only to just below the root level. I can check the moisture of the roots easily and if they are approaching dryness I mist them with rain water. About once a week I fill to the bottom of the growths with well water and very dilute fertilizer and soak for about a half hour. Then I lift the whole thing out, rinse the roots with rain water, check for any rotting and this one has some bad roots so I spray them with hydrogen peroxide. Then I rinse out the container put it back in and add some rain water to the bottom and I am good to go for another week.
