    Default Laeliocattleya Cuiseag

I have this plant about a year, it was a large seedling but I did not expect it to bloom for a couple of years.
A single flower but a nice preview of what to come.

Great flower Nicole! I don't know if you've got the right name though. Laeliocattleya Cuiseag shouldn't have splash petals or the petal width. Other differences too but those are the biggies. Looks most like the NOID I posted a few days ago. The green in that one has now turned golden yellow.

    Thank you for the reply
I bought this plant from the most serious reseller here in India.
Tagged Lc Cuiseag without clonal name.
So far, all the plants I have received from them have proven to be genuine.
However, I agree with you, before posting I had been investigating online.
Regarding the transition from green to yellow could partly be due to the light intensity.
A seller recommends reducing the intensity when the plant begins flowering, which I did not but is scheduled for the next time.
Searching for Cuiseag images you can see flowers in all gradations from green to yellow.
I also noticed that even the shape and color of the lip can be very different.
But the most unusual thing is definitely the ‘splash’ on the petals, and I was surprised when I saw that this is also possible.
If you're interested you can search google images for 'cuiseag mutant'.
Obviously my doubts remain and I wonder what else I could do to find out.
I appreciate your interest in my post
    Thanks Nicola

I had my noid in the basement under fairly intense T5's. I think that finally pushed it to flower for the 1st time in three years. When the 1st bud started to open I brought it up to the living room window. Much less light and from behind the flowers rather than overhead. Others know far more about Cattleya alliance breeding and will correct me if I'm wrong but I think that you will sometimes get "throwbacks" to plants in their genetic makeup. Perhaps that is what happened. I have one with a lot of walkeriana in its background. Sometimes it will flower from a sheath on a leaved pseudo bulb. Other times it spikes directly from the rhizome.
