Yeah, hybrids are there for our enjoyment too, you know so we can spend more $$$ on orchids! And if we don't spend $$$ on orchids, there would be no forum! And we would never know each other through this forum! And I could go on and on! Hehehhehe!!!

This variety is among my favorite purpuratas. The gorgeous lip with rose veins combining with pristine white color and topping all that, a lovely scent, what more could we ask? It is a gorgeous one, Julie!

    Thanks, all!

Diane just likes to argue. If I had said hybrids were the best, she be campaigning for species!

Mind you, I've lots of hybrids I love to...well not quite to death... I just find such understated elegance in the species. The hybrids are bigger, bolder and certainly eye-catching. But you need both.

    Thanks, Philippe!

It's such an elegant flower, and the long wait for the seedling to grow and bloom makes it all the more exciting for me!

Everyone's pretty much said it all, so great growing Julie and great photography work! Have you been going to the Nelson Institute of Photography?

    Thanks, Tim-O!

I think as Nelson said, we're all sort of figuring it out as we go. There have been other awsome photographers on the forum in past generations, and you learn a bit from each. What's great is that the wonderful photos encourage you to try different things. And that's how you learn and improve.

So in that sense, yes! Nelson has influenced my photography. I still have to figure out my digi cam on macro shots, or I'll never get the closeup beauty he regularly chronicles.
