Default Dendrobium speciosum hillii first bloom

First bloom on this one. It was the perfect time to repot but I held off because it was about to bloom. Hopefully I haven’t left it too late to repot.

I love the fragrance. Coincidently the macadamia’s are flowering at the moment and they smell the same.

A very healthy plant. And then these "millions" of beautiful flowers.

After the "big freeze" heater failure that wiped out a 20-year collection, a friend gave me one in a 2" pot. I am not a huge den fan, so basically ignored it, deigning to repot it every 3-4 years. About ten years on, I finally got some blooms.

Nice Ray. I like your idea of hanging in a teak basket.

Wow Jude. This is a fabulous plant with gorgeous flowers! Even the circumference of the spikes is impressive.

I ended up giving that plant away to a friend, and it has been divided several times, with about 6 or 8 of them occupying 16" (40 cm) baskets.

    An Aussie classic.
Have a friend that has one that's so huge he can't move it anymore.
When it blooms it is the most spectacular looking/smelling thing you have ever seen.
    Nice job Jude.

We don't get to see them in UK - probably our weather does not provide enough brightness ; although this year and last were fabulous years for dendrobiums here - I have a couple of examples of this species - two different clones - and both have made a big step forward towards reaching blooming size .... maybe only another 7 or 8 years to wait - haha...

In the meantime, accept my congrats . A great job you have done.
