Vanda Miss Joaquim
Does anyone grow one of these? I know they need LOTS of light (terete vandas are serious light lovers) and humidity. Any other tricks of the trade to get them to bloom? Compared to your regular vandas how much light do they need/like?

I've seen those online...I'd love to get a cutting or two myself. I'm glad you asked this question...now I'll know if I want the trouble or not.

Sorry can't say much just put it in a pot and tied it to the post of the lathe house. It grows like crazy but I have only had blooms once. Now that it is 9' tall and in full sun I am hoping to get some blooms. Fertilize every other week when I remember.

Yep, that's about it. The cutting I got from Cin is about two feet tall now. I stuck a branch in a clay pot filled with lava rock and tied the vanda to it. I tied the branch to a post for support. It's in full sun and I usually forget to fertilize it, but I do water it every day. Sun seems to be the key. It's in spike again now! Good luck, Sadie, you will love this one.

I have mine planted in a pot of good dirt. It's in a place were it gets full sun. I also have some plant food pellets all over in the pot so that it always has some food when it rains or when I water. I got that cutting last year and it's about 7 feet tall right now. It also flowered this summer. Hope that helps.
