I have heard that about stanhopea, but also I have heard that is not true. and so I starting thinking in the wild how would they bloom? growing on a branch, so I thinking if the media is very firm they may bloom like a coryanthes but I need to experiment.
all My Stans are all in baskets, but I just wonder.

Very nice step by step lillustrated lecture! I use almost identical potting media mix for all orchids with exception of Phals. and Paphs. These get only "Orchiata" NZ bark with 3 Pumice stones where the roots touch the media as they are so prone to rotting in the tropics.

    Cheers, Michael

    Hi John,

That was just the wet table and wet basket. I had to go and look at the photos again to see what you were seeing. The basket is open slots and the lava rock is the bottom layer.

    Cheers,
    BD

Very healthy looking plants ! And thanks for your tutorial. I planted mine in coconut husk. They didnt have such a great root system, but I can see new roots forming after 3 weeks.
