This is one of the most poisonous snake in Malaysia , I'm not dare to provoke though still very small he can spit without you notice it, the smell is terrible, the mature cobra can spit more then 4 meter and you can heard the hissing sound several time usually very sharp..

The worst experienced when my second son enter into the hut at the age of 5 years old he was spitted by Black Cobra directly to his eye, he told my wife the smell was terrible and subsequently he cant see anything his vision totally blurred and blindness within short period of time. Was brought to A & E and quickly brought to Oftalmologist. His cornea totally became opaque and quickly went for urgent scraping.

This means you definitely have to thin down your collection to prevent it from hiding/breeding there! Sorry to hear about your son's accident.. Hope he is ok now..

is your son alright now?? That is so horrible; he and you must have been so scared. I hope this visitor will not be returning. There is a saying where I grew up that says if you find one snake, another is somewhere close by. Please be careful, Zain. Thanks for the photos - I would not have know this snake to be a cobra as all the ones I have seen were adults and had that cobra head. When visiting India in 2010, we saw many gray colored cobra snakes in captivity. (horribly cruel existence if the stories are true - but that is another story altogether.)

    Cheers,
    BD

How much more frightening considering what one did to your son. That must have added to your anxiety when you saw this, and yet you took such marvelous photographs!

Thank you for sharing your story about your son. How did his eye resolve?
