What a day ! Firstly, as I switched my aquarium lights, the female Jade eyed Cichlid came out of the corner surrounded by a hundred or so babies. I knew they were spawning but didn't expect so many young. They are very attendant parents, keeping the rainbowfish at bay. Then a trip out to see a wildflower meadow featured in the local newspaper. Quite stunning if artificially created. Then in a nearby brook, a new species for me, the Banded Demoiselle. I've always wanted to see this species, but only in recent years have they spread northwards to our area. This is a male, the females are metallic green without the black band on the wings.
Wow, how huge offspring - if they survive all of them you'll probably have to think about a new aquarium
This wildflowery meadow is absolutely beautiful, it is pure pleasure to walk through meadow like this. I like it!
