Default Is my Phal orchid's root rotting? Help...

I have recently bought this orchid from a local grocery store and watered it once every 3 days but I think I might have overwatered it after reading several posts on watering. The aerial roots winkled and turned yellow, they look as if they are rotting but the roots in the pot seem to look fine. Several days ago, I have cut off some mushy and yellow roots that sticked out from the bottom of the pot because I believed they were rotten. The leaves look healthy but I am very worried whether it is starting to die. Any advice? Thanks in advance.

The top roots look like aerial roots , these can do dry up if the humidity is not high enough. Not a problem as long as the roots in the pot are nice and green.

Your orchid looks lively and healthy. I am sure by now you have figured out that overworry is not necessary. They can dry out a bit some times and removal of yellowing roots not a big deal. Black roots is when you really need to worry. Just check the soil before watering instead of setting days and you can avoid any worrys about over or under watering.

Low humidity can certainly cause the aerial roots to dry out, as fare as watering it depends on a number of things as to your growing area, temperature, lighting, air movement etc. I water every third day, all my mini Phals. they are in clay pots, bark mix and in winter pretty close
to lighting. I use a humidifier 24/7 and I also mist roots. This might seem like over kill but I have a few mounted plants that I mist every day
so its easy for me to mist my Phals. they seem to be happy and so do their aerial roots.

Your Phal looks healthy and perfectly normal. Roots coming out the bottom of my pots often get yellow and mushy, doesn't seem to mean much. The aerial roots often dry out too. The leaves look great, no worries.
