    Default Wild Encyclia tampensis

Well here are some photos of the other colonies of wild Encyclia tampensis growing on an old live oak tree on my property. I just found them a week or so ago. I eagerly awaiting for May,June that is when I heard they will start to bloom again.

I think this is so cool. Something about wild trees loaded with epiphytes is so exciting to someone who has all her 'chids in neat little pots. Be sure to take pictures when they bloom!

Wow, that part of the tree is really loaded with epiphytes! Amazing how strng trees are to support not only themselves but also all the other plantlife.

I look for them in the local nurseries but only see weak baby plants online. They have a plant over at the botanical gardens here....I told the guy if theirs ever came up missing it meant i'd climbed their tree. lol

That is so cool! I love seeing those orchids in on a tree like that. Thanks for sharing and I echo Lynda's remark - Please share photos of them in bloom. I bet it will be amazing!

    Cheers,

You are so lucky to have them growing wild on your property! Maybe you have some terrestrial orchids as well.
About 130 miles west of you is a neat place called Myakka River State Park. The trees there are LOADED with butterfly orchids and air plants of all types. I have not had the timing to see them in bloom but I bet it is spectacular.
Please be sure to post photos of your lovelies in bloom!
