    Default Peppermint

Masdes and Dracs are finicky. I am not giving up. Aside from having my Macchu Picchu bud blast...most of the masdes have sent spikes. They sit of humidity tray that I fill with ice and water at night, they also sit next to my humidifier/mister that is hooked up to my drac terrarium. They have a dedicated computer fan that cools them down. So far, my humidity have been at 75-80% and temp at not ideal of 60 per thermometer reading but as long as their roots are cool, I am cool.

I always grew mine outside. They had an average summer temp of 28*C day and 19*C at night, then winter is about 12*C day, and then 3*C overnight. They always set spike for me too, but a)snails got them, they even go around the pellets! and B)they kept blasting anyway. Then this year, everyone of them got some fungal infection, so off to the incinerator they went! I will go back to them when i figure out how to get around the snails though....and i would LOVE to have a go at Dracs!

Awesome setup too! our climate is perfect apparently for growing them outside, but yours im picking, is too warm!

Love the setup you have going! I have 1 masdie, with several new growths, so I am hoping that I'll get a bloom or two. Am I right in thinking the blooms arise from near the base of the new bulb, from under the tissue-y sheath on the bulb?

Yes.Masdes send spikes from the base and grow upright, almost same height as the leaves. Dracs send out at the base, almost diagonal or pendant.
