    Default Zygolum Louisendorf

    Hi all--

I picked up this zygo hybrid at the OS auction today. It originally had 2 spikes, each with several blooms, but only had 2 blooms left, and the guy who donated it told me they were at least a month old...you can tell they are fading a bit. Nevertheless...I love it and look forward to blooming it again!

He could not recall the name, just that it was a named hybrid. My best guess is Zglm Louisendorf 'Rhein Moonlight', but if anyone can confirm or correct, please let me know!!

    Beautiful orchid, Kathi!
I would agree with the name Zygolum Louisendorf. I looked it up in owiz and it appears the same.

    cheers,

Thanks Bruce, for the confirmation, and Bill for the kind compliment. I am so pleased with it! I think zygos are quite cool.

My other buy was a phrag longifolium, with numerous growths. Neither one was hotly contested, though many orchids that I thought were less interesting were much more fought over. Go figure.

Kathi - I know Bruce looked up for you, but I have a 'Rhein Moonlight' and it's called either a Galeopetalum or Zygosepalum. I posted it on a thread in a thread in Orchids of Other Genera IN BLOOM a couple months ago - I spent ages looking it up and finally found it. Mine has rather larger blooms than the usual zygo, though, so maybe there's a smaller 'Rhein Moonlight' floating around. You might want to check the RHS register.
I REALLY mean this to be possibly helpful - NOT to contradict anyone or create confusion -
