I was just looking these 2 up on the orchidspecies website to see if they had any scent--I was sure putidum has one and I was right, but monathum doesn't. I did find out though that putidum isn't a Bulbo. anymore, it is now Mastigion putidum (Teijsm. & Binn.) Garay, Hamer & Siegerist 1994.

They are great - no matter what the taxonomists may decide to call them.

Man, I hate when that happens....oh well, I needed to put another tag in the pot anyway. Thanks so much for the information!!

LOL... at the rate the taxonomists are going, you'll have more tags than bulbs on those pots!!!

the Bulbo putidum looks like quite a nice stinky! and the Bulbo monathum reminds me of a small version of Bulbo lobbii or dearei.

hope the cold goes away soon!

Nice growing BD! I really like that B. putidum or is it M. putidum???
I know how you guys feel with the name changes. Taxonomists keep changing the names of dart frogs(my other hobby). Fortunately though, I can't exactly tag my little frogs

I hate colds! Sorry you have one of those nasty things. The orchids are so different from anything I have. I love them, especially the first one.

Thanks all! The cold is better. Katie, I really just got into bulbos within the last year or two. They seem easy enough. We have another I want to photograph. It looks like a bunch of kidney beans on little sticks under the leaves. I am hoping that these are buds, but maybe it is just a weird bulbo bloom??? I don't know.

    Thanks for looking!

    Cheers,
    BD

Glad you're feeling better, Bruce! It's no fun to be sick over the holidays.

I haven't taken the Bulbo plunge. I'll just sit back and enjoy yours - can't wait to see the third!
