I am also tempted to post my guess here too ... There is so much temptation to do it after Diane responded to my initial questions! ... Tehehehehe!

Well, with those two guys practically (actually) telling you the name - congratulations to everyone who played!

The plant is Paph. Temptation (kolopakingii x philippinense)

    Here were the clues:

    1. I would only name one parent - a hint that it was a primary cross

    2. Slow growing

    3. Twisty petals

    4. Multifloral (very)

    5. Large plant (LS of 34 ")

Amazingly 2 people guessed it immediately. 2 others guessed after the additional clues from Hoa's questions.

Correct ID's : Tim (bench72), Jason (Jmoney), Julie (Piper), Hoa (Hoa Tony Nguyen aka Sir Speedo)

Soo - how about someone else posting a mystery plant we can all try to ID?

    (Still laughing!)

Diane gets kudos for running a fun game, but I only scored a distant honorable mention (and that was for persistence!)

The others sorted it out quickly. I bludgeoned her to death!

It was fun. All should feel welcome to hop into what I hope will be future "Name this 'Chid" episodes. Even if you haven't a clue. It's a fun way to learn.

    Thanks, Diane! And congrats, guys!!!

    Julie

PS - Ok, Clint - the guantlet has been passed!

I'm surprised that it is slow-growing for you, Diane. is it really that slow or is it just LARGE-growing (and therefore takes its time to get up to size)?

I'll drop some pictures of a nice primary hybrid that bloomed a while ago...one parent should be pretty obvious given the lovely pink color...

I guess the same rules apply.

Well, it's mostly large growing, and that capped with my impatience makes it seem really slow growing - but nothing like a philippinense.

    So, Pink, Multilforal, Primary Hybrid...

Well, what species would breed pink? Of course delenatii! Well, the other parent, there are not that many choices out there ... Hehhehe!
    Cheers. Hoa.

you are correct; delenatii is one of the parents. I guess I wasn't entirely accurate--micranthum also breeds pink too, but it's usually darker pink.

the other parent, well, any guesses?
