    Default Paph deperle

This one is a primary hybrid between Paph primulinum and Paph delenatii. This cross yeilds white blooms because generally in paph breeding yellow blooms crossed with pink blooms makes the colours more subtle. This is also supposed to be a easy grower and recommended for beginners.

This is a first blooming for this guy. Not my showiest bloom but cute. I think the bud is cool looking. I hoped the petals would be more horizontal and wider. I was waiting for the second bud to open before posting, but I couldn't wait any longer
Do you think my lighting is too intense for these photos?

very nice. this cross is usually white (when made with primulinum alba) because delenatii suppresses yellow pigments. i.e. Armeni-White, where the armeniacum yellows are almost completely suppressed.

    That is lovely Fren.

I'm thinking I need to invest in a black sheet for a backfdrop for any further photos I take.... This orchid business keeps throwing up more and moer expenses!

Your photos are wonderful. I have a paph deperle since last June and nothing much is happening. How do you grow yours?

Joan, the plant is putting out leaves though right? Plants that are sold as blooming size may not always bloom right away. Patience is important for growing paphs. It's possible that your plant isn't mature enough yet.

Cool nights will definitely helps set bud. Many plants started setting buds all during the cool winter nights. I have the thermostat lower at night, plus my house isn't really efficient so it really cools down sometimes.

I grow my plants underlights and with high humidity now. I try to keep it as high as possible but it can be difficult in the winter. I notice growth is much better in humidity. I will soon get small fans, when they become available, so that air circulation is better. Air circulation is also noted as being important in aiding growth.
