The fact that it is peloric makes it even more beautiful in my opinion. The lip coloring is great.

Like the peloric petals! Being "Little" Emperor ... is it actually a little plant?

You've got it... some just aren't opening all the way. Not sure why...more importantly for me is that the flower production on this is significately less this year from last. Normally this produces 8 to 10 flowers on branches....

    Howard,
This is at least the second time lately you've mentioned one or more of your Phals aren't as floriferous this year vs last. Any pattern to this? I'm just wondering if there is something different in the greenhouse or if it's been awhile since they've been repotted and have simply used up what is available in the mix? I'm sure I'm not going anywhere you haven't already travelled in your mind! At any rate, I really like this Phal, even with fewer flowers than what you'd like to see.

    Cheers,

    Rob

My only thought as to why I'm not getting as many flowers this year is that I repotted VERY late in the growing season and I think I have been using my fertilizer too strong. So the combination may have supressed flower developement. This picture is from last year. With all due respect to the plant, it did rebloom during the late spring before I removed the spike.

I am wondering how stable the pelorism is on this beauty. I see from last years pic one flower with a cupped petal and other petal was flat. Some of your flowers from this year have both petals cupped. I would suspect this is a genetic trait.

When I used to grow Phal hybrids, I would remove the spikes before the end of August so the plant could gain strength for the following year.
