Smile Phal. Brother Sara Gold x sib.

This is a first bloom Phal. Brother Sara Gold sibling cross that I got from my favorite vendor. It has a lot of sparkle, but not as much 'gold' as I was hoping for.

The light was good yesterday for some photos, but obviously I need to work on my background staging.

It is very nice. I like the softness of the orchid bloom on this plant.

    Cheers,

Well, to start, I haven't ever seen this cross look anything like this. That said, I think its really lovely and unique! Hang onto that one. Also, nice to see you're using seaweed fert, my chids love it!

Very pretty but you're right, I don't see any gold there. Beautiful orchid though.

Thank you to all who have revisited this thread! Last summer this orchid seemed to fall into decline. Your interest led me to contemplate this orchid and wonder why it (and another I purchased with it) continues to languish while most of my other phals are spiking right now.

I flipped over a particularly limp leaf last night and discovered a line of big momma scale!! I can't believe I missed them! Let's just say I slept poorly last night--this is the downside of having your collection so close to your bed.

This morning, I have been carefully inspecting everyone and hosing the works with alcohol/dish soap spray. I have discovered 1 or more scales on 10 phals and a paph. Oddly, it seems to have avoided the rest of my collection. My phals summered inside, and everyone else got treated with an insecticide with residual before coming back in the house. Perhaps that is what helped them?

I feel like the sentry who slept while the enemy invaded!
