I recently bought a plant that was labeled "Blc. Yen Corona Green Genie." I loved the "Green Genie" name, and the pictures of the blooms were just so awesome looking! Then I was looking at another website, and I saw the same exact plant, but it was labeled as a "Blc. Yen Corona Green Genius." Doing a Google search on it revealed it listed in many places under both names, and even sometimes as "Green Genii."
For some reason this bugs the heck out of me. I want to know what the proper name of this plant is. Here's a pic of what the blooms will look like.
Can anyone tell me what the official name is so I can make sure I have it tagged properly? Thanks!
That is absolutely GORGEOUS.
The official registered name is Yen Corona. The green genie, ginii etc etc are just cultivar names.

Yes, Blc. Yen Corona is the correct name.
cheers,

I've seen both clonal names used also but I'm pretty sure the correct clonal name is "Green Genie". I have the same plant in bud right now. I hope it blooms as nicely as yours.

I will look it up in Owiz later today, if the cultivar name is from an award it should be there.
Here's the information from OrchidWiz.

That is gorgeous...I have one like it and mine has the same name. Don't worry about wrong tags unless the flower is way off. You would be suprised how many orchids are nearly exact, but have different names and different cross information. I have a three cattleya, when in bloom look nearly identical. They are all a golden color on the petals and have a throat with pink, red, orange and spots. When sat next to each other they even look the same, but all three are definitely not the same plant. lol You will get used to it after awhile.
