    Default Vanda Katryn Oosthuizen

    I just call her that because she finally opened her buds on my friend 21st birthday last thursday (14th). Her registered name is V. Bernice Miller.

    It's taken me nearly four years to get this one to bloom but it's worth it. Don't know if I finally did something right or if it's global warming.

    The colour is definitely purple, not blue, but it's intense.

    It's beautiful and what a mass of roots. You have it growing in a pot, what do you have it in? I know some people grow theirs in bark mix and others just bare root. Are you able to just place the pot on your bench or do you hang it.

    Has anyone ordered a vanda from Fantasy Orchids. I never heard of them but they had a Vanda Noriki Sumida 'Brandi Orchids' which looked interesting. I took a chance, hope I will not be sorry. Because of our cold I am having it shipped on Monday, one day delivery.

    WOW! So what if it took five years, I have seen at least six of this plant in various stores and nurseries; I've never seen one so beautiful. Obviously it didn't want to bloom until it was the most spectacular Vanda on the continent!
