hello from oahu

Hi this is Kaori originaly from japan, now Living in Honolulu Oahu.
I am new to grow orchid.
I got neo stylis lou sneary from orchid show 3days ago.
now flower is getting a little brownish. It was fine 3days ago.
it is in the hanging basket, inside of baset barks and other stiff also I can see the roots,I hang in east side of window with blind.
how often should I water it?
am I doing ok?

Neostylis Lou Sneary likes bright light but no full sun during the hotter part of the day, fast draining medium - mine grows in a 4" basket with some coconut chips, and lots of water when in active growth (let it dry a bit during the winter). Easy care and blooms 2 or more times a year. So, you will want to move it to a brighter location. Do you have a yard that you can grow in? I would hang the basket in a tree but near the edge. You want it to get morning and evening sun but only filtered light at mid day.

Hi Kaori,

Your flowers may just be on their way out. They will turn brown on the edges and then fade pretty quickly after that. They may have been open for a long time before you actually got the plant. If you can, post up a photo and let everyone here take a look.

I live an apartmaent no veranda.
windows are east side and west side.
now hanging east window, so morning sun. but east window is located hall way.
window is under the wide roof.
so, maybe not so bright??
west side, afternoon sun side doesnt have roof, hot and bright. storong sun thought the blind.

You do not want direct 'strong' sunlight on your neo. We grow ours under 60% shade, so it gets bright light, but no direct hot sunlight. Here is a shot of it for you and here is a thread where I posted about it.
