Rooting hormone...help?

Ok, a new catt of mine needs some new roots pronto. I bought some rooting hormone, but I've never used it before...I need some help on how to apply it. It's in a powdered form...

What is the active ingredient on the rooting hormone?
Different chemicals have different methods of deployment.
You may have to just dissolve it and soak the rhizome and hope it gets absorbed by the plant.

Also remember that cattleyas will only grow new roots from currently developing pseudobulbs, or secondary roots from existing healthy roots. An old pseudobulb or the rhizome itself is unlikely to grow new roots.

If the cattleya has missed its growing season (no more new pseudobulbs emerging), you might be able to keep the plant alive until the next growing season and let it grow roots on its own.

Superthrive might be a better overall remedy compared to a single-purpose rooting hormone.

Ah, you already answered my next question, which was - I bought superthrive as, is it a better option? I assume it is...And the cattleya has at least 5 new growths at different stages

I use the dry hormome and dust it onto the roots with a makeup brush. (No make-up on it....)

Powdered rootone like that isn't as effective as either KLN or SuperThrive IMHO. Add a couple of drops a gallon when you water the plant for the first couple of months and keep it humid...

I have the powdered version too but I must admit that I'd probably use the soluble version much more.
