Oncidium growth & spots

I've read about Oncidium spots and remember it's really hard to prevent them from appearing. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent them from spreading or becoming bigger?

I found these two new growths on my Onc. Sharry Baby after I repotted it. Can anyone tell me if these are new p-bulbs or just leaves? Please let me know how you can/did identify which one it is?

I have no Oncidiums - so, my Onc. knowledge is pretty limited...but even so, my hypothesis on the new growths is the one on the right looks like a new pb forming, and the one on the left appears to be a flower spike. On the subject of the spots, I can tell you they're harmless and you're not doing anything wrong, nor should they spread to unsightly proportions. I'm not sure there's much you can do to prevent/get rid of them, though.

The "freckles" on the oncidium leaves are just normal reaction to light. The only way to prevent this from happening is to give them lower light exposure, but that risks giving the plant insufficient light that it cannot bloom.
You can experiment with giving it "just enough" light in order to bloom but not too much that it gets the freckles. Otherwise they are harmless.

On the new growths at the base, I agree with sand_tiger86. The one on the right is definitely a new pseudobulb getting ready to grow, and the one on the left looks very much like a flower spike.

I would say leave it alone for now and just keep doing what you are doing. Some people react when they see the spike and start pampering the plant. Most of the time this causes more stress to the plant and the spike aborts or becomes stunted.

The small spike the plant had has already discarded all (3 flowers) and I'm wondering if I should cut it as you would do with a phal or should I leave it? I'm not sure if the plant is still putting energy into the spike; it's still very green.

The spotting on the leaves of Sharry Baby are very very normal.i have flowered Sharry Baby without any leaf spotting,very hard to do.The light levels required are around 1000foot candles corresponding to 10000lux.Sharry Baby also likes more warmth than most as it is 1/3rd Onc leucochilum .

Both the growths that you have shown are new growths,good growing.

i would be cutting the old flower spike off as low as possible
