Hi there!
I'm not an expert, but folks here generally know I LOVE S&H, so I'll share what little bit I know :-)
In my experience, I've had the best luck moving orchids to S&H right after they have bloomed as they are beginning their vegetative growing period. Since orchids usually divert their energy and initiate vegetative growth after blooming has ended, I find that this is a good time to introduce S&H...they are growing new roots and leaves that can quickly become accustomed to the new media.
Also, to lessen the shock, I keep the newly-transplanted orchids out of sun for about 1 week after I put them into S&H. This gives them some time to "recooperate" without sun stress and heat - they seem to do better this way.
If your plant hasn't just finished blooming, I would say check for any spikes before you repot into S&H....if it has a spike, I would let it bloom first before repotting into S&H because you might shock it and abort the spike or any buds on it.
Please post some pics if you do decide to repot into S&H - would love to see it!
Hope that helps!
