In an attempt to eradicate these fungus gnats before my vacation, I thouroughly sprayed the bark of the plants that seemed worse infected with neem oil. Dumb move, at least for my Bolopetalum. A couple leaves turned yellow and dropped off. On the mature p-bullbs, there are only two leaves left, and they are yellowing too. And, the plant had two spikes (first time spiking for me), but one of them seems to be yellowing as well. I flushed thouroughly with water now, but it's a little late for that. When I get back I know there will be no leaves and probably no spikes either. It's my fault AND the bugs are still here!! Sorry, I just needed to vent. : : :

Think we all have had oops know I have . Sorry for the trouble .
I have found some plants do not like neem I used it on a thin leaf one and it did about the same thing .
For knats the yellow sticky cards work well or if like me, a cheap skate, the regular fly paper strips available at the box stores, they are gross but can be hidden . I got some of the sundews and butterwort bug eaters the knats are gone. I keep them around the Phrags.

Well, the plant held on better than I expected. It did lose one spike and another leaf. However, so far it still has one leaf, and the bud on the spike that is left has started to open. Considering what this plant's been put through, I am more than happy with just the one flower. I will post a picture when it opens all the way.

Also, I was unable to find any sundew plants around here, so I ordered one online. I only ordered one so far-- I need to make sure I can keep it alive. I hope it's hungry for some bugs!!!

I don't know where you are , if you have one of the large box stores they usually have them . Be sure to use pure water , rain or Ro. keep wet, no fert. , if it arrives in a plastic box remove the cover a little at a time so it can adjust . Gin

Thanks, Gin. I'm in NYC. I've been to some of the garden centers at a couple of the home improvement stores in the area but could not find any sundews or butterworts. One day I almost came home with a pitcher plant, but they were bigger than I really wanted (almost a foot high!) and some of the pitchers seemed to be dying already, so I decided against it.

If it does not come in a plastic box, do you think I should make a cover for it until it settles in?
